Problem statement:

The kitchen/dining area was average size, but not suitable for this Client who was working from home and had to juggle their work with looking after their young family.

There was no space that could be utilised as a home office or as a children’s play area.

Client’s requirements:

to extend kitchen/dining area
to provide a home office and a children’s playroom that could also be used as home cinema room.
to integrate the existing flat-roof extension with a new extension to be built on the boundary, to the side of the house and to utilise the land in an unused dark area of the plot

Outcome:

The plot was efficiently and fully utilised to provide the additional facilities required by a young modern family whilst maintaining valuable garden space. Client is also assured that the works have taken proper consideration of the poor ground conditions and are structurally sound.

Integration of the new and existing ground floor storey extensions provided space for a large kitchen/dining open to the garden providing plenty of natural light. The front of the house now accommodates two rooms: a home office and a home cinema room that is also used as a children’s playroom.
